A calm space on a busy street

Altewai Saome – Hidden Treasures

The highly acclaimed fashion house ALTEWAISAOME was founded by Natalia Altewai and Randa Saome in Malmö, Sweden in 2009. The store concept derives from the wish to create a calm space on a busy street. To conceive this notion we discussed the sense of rapture for a particular fashion product and that it sometimes can be created by more than just the product itself

Balance between consumer societies' hidden treasures found in the urban fabric and the comforting monumentality found in nature

A visit to the Altewai. Saome concept store could be compared to the fulfillment of when you find an undiscovered glade in the forest. The conceptualization of the store balances the tension between consumer societies hidden treasures found in the urban fabric and the comforting monumentality found in nature.

he woven, wooden structure frames the garments that are displayed along the walls on galvanized steel tubes

Without taking the focus of the products the structure is woven on site in aeroplane veneer slats that create an enclosure around the two changing booths and the centrally placed counter. The woven, wooden structure frames the garments that are displayed along the walls on galvanized steel tubes. The floor has a pale warm tone which together with the wood and galvanized steel creates a gentle backdrop for the different products on display in the Altewai Saome flagship store.
