Schauman & Nordgren Architects have been announced as the winners of the invited competition to design a new 22,000 m² landmark block in Verkkosaari, Helsinki.
Situated on a peninsula embraced by the sea, the development will include over 330 new homes, diverse retail and community spaces, and a parking facility. The jury report of the competition organized by NREP and the City of Helsinki in collaboration with SAFA, states that “The winning proposal stands out as particularly insightful and distinctive in terms of cityscape. The sculptural form of the block presents an intriguing visual experience from different viewpoints and creates a fitting new landmark for Verkkosaari.”
