An interconnected environment for knowledge sharing and innovation

Kunskapsberget

Knowledge and innovation are developed through sharing and dialogue. This has been a guiding principle when both the neighborhood and the main building were designed. To introduce interfaces for interaction and innovation between teachers, students and the public has been a guiding principle for the design; not only for the building but also for the neighborhood. “Kunskapsberget” constitutes an open, safe and flexible educational environment of knowledge sharing, located in a social and urban environment with lush nature. The neighborhood forms a flexible platform that can adapt to forms of education as well as use.

The main building of “Kunskapsberget” constitutes a social melting pot in Linköping. Students in the region gather here to develop their creativity as well as to meet a wide audience. It is a contemporary educational environment with attractive landscapes where you can create but also experience the knowledge and culture being generated in the school. Dialogue, interaction, and reflection

The educational format is in constant change, but the need for dialogue, interaction, and reflection are important for meeting individual needs. These pre-conditions structure the building and create a framework for what is flexible, robust, or fixed. As an example of this principle, the main spaces for circulation function as spaces where you experience the activities in the building. This building and urban block of knowledge will supply a robust education platform for a democratic and creative educational environment.
