Light and ethereal shell with a prosaic and grounded steel base
Ash, steel and leather
The Mollis chair is a gentle and pliantly conceived piece of furniture that derives from form studies about light and ethereal shell with a prosaic and grounded steel base. By creating a gap between the steel frame and the shell the form is accentuated and the profile becomes significant.
The slender wooden seat is made from molded veneer that curves around the body
However a visually lightweight and pleasingly proportioned chair, Mollis is a low-slung easy chair that revels in the simplicity of form. The slender wooden seat is made from molded veneer that curves around the body. The seat pad is made from foam and is upholstered in either fabric or leather.
There are no backsides; no parts to conceal or hideaway
The molded veneer shell sits upon a double cross steel leg frame that holds the wooden shell gently. All components in the chair is crafted specifically to be visual. There are no backsides; no parts to conceal or hideaway. Therefore can the chair stand in a vast variety of spaces without becoming to dominant or to anonymous.
