Values and identities of Örebros water landscapes.

A celebration of water and biodiversity

How can the new reservoir continue Örebro’s building tradition in relation to the existing water towers? Reservoirs in Örebro have since the pumps at Kyrkogårdsgatan and Våghustorget been characterized by being slender, stately and eye-catching water towers. The Southern Water Tower, the North Water Tower and the iconic “Mushroom” are built in tune with their times and are visual orientation marks in Örebro’s urban fabric.

In symbiosis with the water and oat on its surface

Which values are important today, what should a modern water reservoir represent and what should it offer its citizens today? The red Waterlily in Örebro county has a local presence in the water landscapes surrounding Örebro city. Water lilies grow in symbiosis with the water and oat on its surface.

A natural public attraction that manifests itself as a tribute to water as a natural resource

The new reservoir, the Waterlily, builds on the values and identities of Örebros water landscapes. The reservoir and its surrounding ponds introduce a natural public attraction that manifests itself as a tribute to water as a natural resource. The new destination in Adolfsberg provides Örebro with a recreational forest glade in proximity to the new housing areas of Södra ladugårdsängen and Reträtten.
